Meet an 18-year-old with some serious singing talent. Shanae’a Moore graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School in the spring. She spent part of her summer working with kids at a fine arts camp and this fall she’s working as an activities coordinator with the elderly – she often sings to them. She’s saving up some money to start theatre school in Texas.
Watch a video of Shanae'a's performance highlights:
Thanks to Brian Wallace in Juneau who provided this clip.
KTD's Shana Sheehy recently spoke with Shanae’a about what got her into singing, her favorite roles, and what the future holds.

As a family member of a JDHS
As a family member of a JDHS student who is one of Miss Moore's fellow drama and music program participants, I was disappointed that she didn't acknowledge the hard work of the many other students who put on the productions. Perhaps I should give her the benefit of the doubt that the interview was edited in such a way that it made her sound more self-centered than she actually is.
With her parents running the theater and vocal music programs, and her conventional blond good looks, it's not too surprising that Miss Moore has become the big frog in the small pond of JDHS dramatics. She is, however, not the most musically talented of the students there, and time will tell whether the American public will clamor for her rather thin voice and unimaginative vocal style.
