Sneak Peek: Teacher on the Trail Photo Gallery!

You'll hear Herb Brambley, the 2010 Target Teacher on the Trail, on tomorrow's program when he'll talk about his Iditarod experience, but we thought we'd introduce him to our listeners ahead of time by sharing some great photos that Herb sent to Kids These Days! As TOTT, Herb visited many schools, played his guitar and sang with students, told kids about his school back in Pennsylvania and blogged about it all as he flew from checkpoint to checkpoint.

Also, check out the below clip in which he describes how he came to be chosen for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

Sneak Peek: Barbara Brown on Her Empty Nest

Writer, columnist and familiar Alaska radio voice, Barbara Brown, recorded this moving piece on her personal experience with an empty nest. When her daughter, Sophie, left for college recently it left Barbara Brown with a lot of deeply felt reflections on being a parent in transition. Even if you don't have a child about to fly the nest, chances are you left home at some point, and this piece will certainly speak to anyone - whether your nest was left behind, or you were the one doing the flying.

So, take a listen and know that Barbara Brown will be returning to KTD! to keep us posted on this new chapter of her life.

Tune in Tuesday, September 21 at 2pm and at 7pm to KSKA-FM to hear the entire show about The Empty Nest - it's sure to be one you'll be talking about at dinner with friends and family. And if you miss it on the radio, never fear! You can find full shows here on this website to stream or to download.
